Go to the folder that has your.msi and your setup.exe.This is where we will copy all the required files. Step 1 - Setup your installation folder To make this easy create a folder c: Install. Supplementary question, I also have WinRar, does it effect the end user experience whether I use 7Zip or Winrar? I have created step by step instructions on how to do this as I also was very confused about how to get this working. From this question it seems I also need an.sfx file so I copied from the other question and created one with the following InstallPath='C: test' GUIMode='2' And called setup.sfx and add this to archive together with the other files setup.ini setup.exe setup.ico install.jar JVM32 (folder) but it made no difference, what else do I need to do. Using i can make a self-extracting exe, but it doesn't actually run the installer. Once you have the install.iss, run install.exe with the -S switch and you'll be silent. So currently my users download a zipfile, unzip it and then run setup.exe - I would like them to do this with one click. For InstallShield, use -R, run through the setup, copy the install.iss file from %windir%, paste it into the folder that has the installer, you may need to open the install.iss file with notepad and edit the destination to c:\whatever if you install to a differently setup system next time, though, or you will error out every time if the path isn't found. įor those who experience this issue, it's being deleted immediately because it's not running, but is erroring out. the files will just *disappear*.Ĭybpsych wrote:these few days, certain areas in the Asia region experiencing extremely high of packet loss :( is practically unaccessible here, so i might just want to try my luck here. P/s: thinking of it, this scenario also happens when i use PackageForTheWeb to pack.

But, after 3-4 secs, most of the files are deleted, leaving just some IS files (which were used to load the IS Installer). During 7Z extraction, the files were extracted fully. I peeked the TEMP folder just to see what's wrong. However, when i tried to execute the 7Z installers, the extracted temp files in the TEMP folder will be deleted just about 3-4 seconds after loading the InstallShield Installer. I've followed exactly of the steps listed here, compressing went well, packing went well. The reason i'm asking this because all of my 7Z Installers having its temporary files deleted before the installation is completed. Second, is there a special switch for installers packed by InstallShield? įirst, i've been enjoying making 7Z Switchless Installers! Thanks to 'keytotime' for posting the guide here and at.
